Strychnin Gallery

The official blog for everything relating to the former Strychnin Crew & Urban Nation

KunStart ’09

We are proud to announce that Strychnin Gallery will be attending KunStart 09 in Bolzano, Italy from Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th of May.

The 70 square meter booth (I 82) will be one of the largest Strychnin has had at an art fair, and we have some great things planned for the space!

Christian Rothenhagen (Berlin) and Chrisitee (Vienna) will be making art live at the fair in the street art project  entitled “Growing Paintz”. This will be similar to the installation made by CON and AREK for the “Bombs Away!” show in Berlin, but as with all live painting projects, we can’t tell you any more – things can change in an instant when the ideas and the paint is flowing!

We will also be hanging artwork by Madeline Von Foerster, David Hochbaum, Ansgar Noeth, Stuart Semple, Edith Lebeau, Wee Flowers, Lisa Mei Ling Fong, Raf Veulemans, Jon Jaylo, Daniel Van Nes, Guilliermo Rigattieri, Ver Mar, Michael Page, Miraschi, Tim Roosen, Kristen Ferrell, Marina Bychkova among others.

We Need New Dreams Tonight

This print by Stuart Semple, based on “The Never Ending Story”, continues his themes of destruction or entrophy of a system. It has been distressed with flecks of paint, suggesting dust and scratches on film, and the disintegration of the mechanised image – this also means that  none of the editions of this screen-print are identical.

“The work is also closely centred around my own feelings towards nostaligia in my childhood, and the fading of childlike make believe imagery as I have grown up. I believe we all need new dreams tonight” – Stuart Semple

This is going to be an amazing event, and we are very excited to be part of it. More information about the fair can be found here
