“Obsolete Angels” by Annie Bertram, with Saturno Butto

The opening of “Obsolete Angels” was not just a chance to see new work from Annie Bertram – it was also an opportunity to see the band “Lost Area” play a live set, check out some of the props used in the photoshoots, and purchase a limited-edition preview book of Annie’s work

The crowds started to pack the gallery ready for Lost Area’s performance, which included songs from their latest album and covers of some of their favourites from other bands.

Some of the models Annie uses in her photos were also present at the opening, including Seraphine features in the “Mechanical Bird” story. Also starring in these pictures is “Hugo” the mechanical bird himself, who was created especially for Annie by her fellow Strychnin artist Raf Veulemans.

For this show, The Vault was dedicated to the work of Italian artist Saturno Butto. Despite being in a different medium to Annie’s work, both artists complemented each other.
