Apocalisse XXI Opening tonight!

Under the Patronage of the Italian Culture Institute Berlin, Strychnin Gallery presents:

Apocalisse XXI – Nuovo Surrealismo Italiano. Curated by Julie Kogler.

In the Vault: Jon Jaylo – To Unmask an Enigma.

Featuring: Desiderio, Elio Varuna and Franco Losvizzero.

For the first time three of the most up-and-coming talents of the new Italian Surrealism are shown in one exhibition: Apocalisse XXI. Their artistic form of expression corresponds with the brilliant design principles of Pop Surrealism and Neo Pop Art. The artists express epochal involved dreams and nightmares in their work, which they visualize through the objective of those who face up to the challenge of searching for mysteries of our life. Thereby they produce pictures and artworks in which dreams and reality merge in a great narrative of suspense. The title aims to the ages of Kali-Yuga, in which appear mythical and bizarre characters and figures. Time and Space are abolished as it was like on a passing through. All artworks contain elements and criticisms that refer to surreal phenomena of the 21st century and will manifest in the spectactors mind as pictures of the subconscious. But the artists succeed in transferring the spectator into an atmosphere of enchantment and miracle.

Opens October 8th at 7 p.m. – runs until November 7th. Opening hours: Thursday – Sunday from 12 pm – 6 pm.
