Caitlin Hackett’s ink work intricacies.

I recently came across the artwork of New Yorker Caitlin Hackett while flicking through the latest issue of Hi-Fructose Magazine. Her work struck me instantly as original and intriguing with her extremely detailed ink drawings.

Caitlin’s work explores the relationship between humans and animals; the idea of the human denial of our animal nature and of humans as the dominant species, as well as the mutation of the animal created by the human interpretation of the animal.

We are super excited that Caitlin will be part of our next show in February, ‘The Mad Potters Tea Party’ where her characters will be applied to a selection of custom china ceramics including a Durham Vase, teapot and teacup and saucer sets.

Caitlin sent us this sneak preview of one of her characters she has been creating for the show. This piece is totally hand drawn with ballpoint and micron pen.

So make sure you come along to ‘The Mad Potters Tea Party on February 4th to see Caitlin’s amazing pieces in person.  Until then, take a look at her website and get to know her great work.
